Guest Articles Good For Some Bad For Others
Do you write guest articles to publish at websites that will accept them like guest blogs or article directories? Do you accept guest articles from people who write them? There are two sides to that coin. These guest articles can be good and they can be bad.
Guest Articles Are Good For Some
The person who publishes the guest article is either doing it to generate direct traffic back to their website or to get a link or two back to some other intellectual property that they own. Maybe that is their own website or maybe they are linking to some other content piece that they have on some other website they don’t own. They aren’t the only ones who benefit though.
The owner of the website that accepts the guest articles benefits too. The website owner benefits by getting new content for their website. This content can bring in search traffic that the website owner can try to monetize with advertising or some other method.
Guest Articles Bad For Others
There is a huge downside to guest articles too. The biggest downside exists for the people who accept that content and publish it on their websites. Internet marketing brings out the worst in people. Read some blogs in the internet marketing industry and if you read between the lines you will find the vast majority of those people to be very self centered and very selfish. The topics they talk about and the actions that they take reveal the fact that they are only really concerned with their own situation. Most of them disregard how their actions affect other people. They simply don’t care.
So, if a website owner offers those internet marketers a benefit by allowing them to post guest articles on their website, you would hope that those internet marketers would be willing to at least offer a fair trade. That fair trade would be a well written all original article that is pleasing to read and acceptable to search engines. But, what actually happens?
In reality, some software developer will code a program to automatically sign up as a guest article writer and then proceed in submitting spun articles full of garbage content and often times duplicate snippet content. Sometimes they will then go on to throw some spam links back at that article in an effort to get the links to be more valuable. Do I need to explain why any of this is bad?
In the end, there are so many people who abuse the system that they end up destroying the value of the site so that nobody benefits at all. This is why you have seen so many of the higher quality article directories move to a paid model where you have to pay to be a member. They do this because it is a much more effective way to deal with those abuses. The people who are willing to destroy the quality of the site itself aren’t willing to pay for that privilege. Funny how that works huh?
