Making Money With Ebay Stores
These days it doesn’t hurt to have a second income. Times are a bit tougher than they used to be. Many of us are working for less money than we were just a few years ago. We don’t know how long it will be before we can climb back to the same salary that we were earning then. One great way we can supplement that income is by starting a simple little home based business with eBay.
I chose eBay for this because it just made sense. They are a reliable well established company that pays affiliates on time and as promised. This form of business was recommended to me by someone who does this sort of thing for a living. I happen to trust that person a lot. Since I have launched my online business some time ago, I know they weren’t lying.
In my case, I am providing a service for people. What I do is to help people find what they are looking for online. Every time someone finds what they are looking for by visiting my store, I get to earn a little commission. It isn’t a huge amount of money, but every little bit adds up.
Frankly, I am just a salesperson. All I do is help other people make a decision. If I help them well enough, I get a piece of the sale. If I am of no help to them, I don’t get jack squat. It really makes sense. Doesn’t it? More stores should operate that way I think.
The store takes a while to setup. There is a huge learning curve for new people especially if you aren’t computer savvy. Fortunately, I am pretty savvy when it comes to computers so I was a fast learner. Even so, it still takes a little while to set everything up. Once you get everything set up though, it drastically reduces the amount of time you need to spend on the site. There is very little maintenance involved. From then on you spend more time promoting the site than anything else.
Promoting is where the money comes from. Some people think you’ll make money if you just build it. They incorrectly assume that people will find their store just because it exists. One or two people will find it, but not very many. You really have to spend time getting the word out about it if you really want to cash in. This is one thing that all new and especially young entrepreneurs need to learn firsthand. There is no free ride. You have to sell it. Then sell it again. Then sell it some more.
